Happening

Happening Experience

In today's world can Christianity penetrate the many areas of life? can it transform the changing world and keep up with the times? The Happening Movement thinks so. It proposes no new type of Spirituality, but does provide a method through which one's Spirituality may be developed, lived and shared in fellowship with Christians.

Instrument Of Renewal

The Happening Experience is a powerful instrument of renewal in the church. It's aim is to concentrate closely on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Happening gives those who attend the desire to understand and serve the Church. What's more, it provides a means to continue the Christian formation, which is just begun in the program.

Not a retreat or camp

A Happening can only be made once in a lifetime, therefore, it is not a substitute for a retreat or camp. During the program the teachings of Christ are discussed in a feeling of joy and happiness.

Encounter with Christ

A Happening is an encounter with Christ. That sounds simple, but is it? Think about it. A real meeting with Christ! The power, beauty and joy of being with him!

An Event full of surprises

When you speak to someone who has attended a Happening, they will avoid giving you too many details about what "Happens" - and for good reason. It has been said that Happening is best likened to a gift, all you get to see is the outside - the wrapping and the ribbon. If someone was to tell you what is inside it would spoil the surprise. The same holds true for Happening.

Format of the program

During the three days the Happeners (those attending) listen to talks by young people and clergy.

The young person who is the "Rector" and those who make up the "Staff" spend weeks working and praying in preparation. The Happening takes careful planning because the time is short and the subject extensive. The titles of the talks indicate some of the content: Reality, Faith, Grace, Sacraments, Piety, Jesus Christ and the Apostolate.

Who can attend?

Any young person between the ages of 16 (year 11) and 25 inclusive.

What is the cost?

The cost is $100, with a deposit of $50 to be paid upon registration. If you are not in a position to cover this cost, then please feel free to contact one of the people listed overleaf to discuss alternative options. Cheques should be made payable to: Bunbury Diocesan Trustees (Happening).

The Happening begins on a Saturday evening at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start and ends on Monday evening at approximately 5pm. Further details of times and venue will accompany your notification of acceptance.

Please eat before coming on Saturday as dinner will not be provided.

Please do not bring mobile phones or radios with you on Happening.
